Our Approach
Regeneration begins in your own body.
PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma – is one of the most thoroughly researched regenerative therapies in modern medicine. We isolate platelet-rich plasma from your own blood. This concentration of growth factors is specifically injected into the scalp or facial skin to stimulate cellular regeneration.
What distinguishes PRP from many other procedures: It introduces nothing foreign into the body. No active ingredients, no foreign substances, no filler materials – only your own biological messengers in concentrated form.
Dr. Sophie Karg and Dr. Sussan Rosenthal combine PRP with dermatological diagnostics. We don't treat "the skin" or "the hair" as isolated symptoms – but rather the underlying biological cause. That's precisely what makes the difference between a treatment that works and one that is only briefly visible.

Why choose us
PRP belongs in the hands of specialists
A PRP treatment is only as good as its execution. Preparation protocol, platelet concentration, injection depth, and treatment intervals determine whether the growth factors actually work – or simply seep away under the skin.
At our clinic, every PRP treatment is planned and carried out by specialist dermatologists. We understand the anatomy of the scalp, the biology of hair follicles, and the layers of facial skin. Equally important: we know when PRP alone is not enough – and, if necessary, combine it with mesotherapy, microneedling, or surgical therapy.
One process, four applications
PRP is effective wherever cells need to be stimulated for regeneration. In our practice, we use autologous blood for both hair medicine and aesthetic dermatology—based on a clear indication and individual therapy planning.
Application Area 01
PRP for the Scalp
In cases of incipient or diffuse hair loss, the growth factors in PRP stimulate weakened hair follicles — they prolong the growth phase, improve microcirculation of the scalp, and can significantly slow down thinning.
Indications:
- Incipient hereditary hair loss (androgenetic alopecia)
- Diffuse hair loss in women
- Postpartum and hormonal forms of hair loss
- Strengthening thinning hair — before visible bald patches
- Adjunctive therapy after hair transplantation
3–4 sessions are recommended at intervals of 4–6 weeks, followed by maintenance treatments every 6–12 months.

PRP for the facial skin
Also known as "vampire facelift" – this refers to biological skin rejuvenation without foreign substances. PRP stimulates fibroblasts and thus the body's own collagen and elastin production. The result: a finer skin structure, a more even complexion, and visibly more elasticity.
Suitable for:
- First signs of skin aging - fine lines, loss of elasticity
- Tired, dull complexion and uneven skin structure
- Dark circles and tear troughs
- Atrophic acne scars (in combination with microneedling)
- Stretch marks, improvement of skin quality on the neck and décolleté
Typically, 3 sessions are performed at 4-week intervals. A refresher treatment once a year maintains the result.

PRP after Hair Transplant
Applied immediately after an FUE hair transplant, PRP improves healing of the recipient area and supports the engraftment rate of the transplanted grafts. The growth factors accelerate wound healing, soothe the scalp, and strengthen the surrounding existing hair.
Benefits as an accompanying therapy:
- Better engraftment rates of transplanted follicles
- Faster reduction of redness and swelling
- Stabilization of non-transplanted existing hair
- Reduction of the postoperative shedding phase
We ideally recommend PRP immediately after the transplant and in the following months.

PRP in Combination Therapy
PRP fully unfolds its effect when embedded in a coherent therapy plan. We therefore specifically combine autologous blood with other procedures—depending on diagnosis, skin type, and treatment goal.
Frequent combinations:
- PRP + Microneedling — skin texture, acne scars, anti-aging
- PRP + Mesotherapy — targeted nutrient supply to the scalp and hair roots
- PRP + medicinal hair therapy — for androgenetic alopecia
- PRP + topical active ingredients — improved absorption of active ingredients after treatment
We will determine which combination is suitable for you during a detailed initial diagnostic consultation.
Book diagnostic appointmentYour Treatment — Step by Step
A PRP session at our practice takes approximately 45–60 minutes. The process is standardized, causes little pain, and requires no downtime.
Step 01
Diagnostics & Indication
Before any PRP treatment, a medical clarification is carried out. We check your indication, digitally examine your skin or scalp, and discuss whether PRP is the right procedure for you — or if a combination would be more sensible.
For hair loss, we supplement the initial examination with a trichoscopy and, if necessary, a blood analysis to rule out hormonal or deficiency causes.
Step 02
Blood Collection & Preparation
We draw 15–30 ml of blood—this amount is roughly equivalent to a routine blood draw. Your blood is separated into its components in a special centrifuge using a certified double-spin procedure. The platelet-rich plasma is isolated and prepared for treatment.
The preparation takes approximately 10–15 minutes. During this time, we prepare the treatment area—sterile cleaning, and if necessary, a local anesthetic cream.
Step 03
Precise Injection
The treated plasma is injected with fine needles into the area to be treated - into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles for hair loss, and into the dermis for the face.
The injection takes 15–25 minutes depending on the area. It is well tolerated; upon request, we can use a numbing cream or fine anesthesia. After the procedure, you can immediately return to your daily routine - one to two days of rest for the treated area are sufficient.
Step 04
Regeneration & Follow-up
The first effects become apparent after 4–6 weeks. The full effect – new hair density or visibly improved skin quality – develops over several months, parallel to your body's own cell cycle.
In follow-up appointments, we compare digitally documented before-and-after photos and adjust your treatment plan if necessary. PRP does not work on a one-off basis but cumulatively – the success of the treatment grows with each session.

PRP — tailored to your needs
PRP for Androgenetic Alopecia
For men with early-stage hereditary hair loss, PRP is a scientifically proven option to slow its progression and stabilize existing hair — before a transplant becomes necessary.
When PRP makes sense:
- Early stages (Norwood I–III)
- Beginning receding hairline
- Thinning at the crown — before visible baldness
- As a complementary therapy after hair transplantation
If hair loss is already more advanced, we will openly advise you on the limitations of PRP and present alternative or combined treatment options.
PRP for Diffuse and Hormonal Hair Loss
Women particularly benefit from PRP because female hair loss usually manifests as diffuse thinning—and this is precisely where PRP excels: in stimulating weakened, but still existing, follicles.
Common indications:
- Diffuse hair loss in the part area
- Postpartum hair loss (after pregnancy)
- Hormonal changes (menopause, stopping birth control)
- Hair loss due to iron or thyroid dysfunction (in conjunction with internal medical clarification)
For women, causal diagnostics are particularly important—which is why we almost always combine PRP with a blood analysis and, if necessary, micronutrient therapy.
PRP for Anti-Aging — biological instead of invasive
For those who prefer not to use fillers or botulinum toxin, PRP offers a biological alternative: the body's own growth factors stimulate collagen production and improve skin structure, elasticity, and complexion from within.
Treated areas:
- Face — fine lines, elasticity, skin quality
- Eye area — tear troughs, dark circles
- Neck and décolletage
- Backs of hands
The result is subtle and natural — you'll look fresher without your facial expressions being altered. Ideal for anyone who wants to improve their skin quality long-term.
PRP for Acne Scars and Uneven Skin Texture
In combination with microneedling, PRP is one of the most effective procedures for treating atrophic acne scars and irregular skin texture. The micro-channels created by needling allow the plasma to penetrate precisely into the deeper skin layers—where regeneration needs to occur.
Indications:
- Atrophic acne scars (ice-pick, boxcar, rolling scars)
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Enlarged pores and irregular skin texture
- Stretch marks
Typically, 3–4 sessions are performed at 4–6 week intervals. The first visible changes appear after 8–12 weeks, when collagen new formation is in full swing.
FAQs about PRP Therapy
PRP stands for "Platelet-Rich Plasma." The part of your own blood with the highest concentration of platelets and growth factors is isolated and used for the treatment. It is an endogenous, biological procedure without foreign substances.
For a visible result, we recommend 3-4 sessions at intervals of 4-6 weeks. Afterwards, 1-2 booster treatments per year are usually sufficient to stabilize the effect. We will plan the exact number individually based on your findings.
Most patients describe the treatment as well tolerated — comparable to acupuncture. Upon request, we work with a numbing cream or fine anesthesia, especially for sensitive areas such as the eye region. Blood collection is comparable to a normal routine blood draw.
Initial effects are visible approx. 4–6 weeks after treatment. With skin rejuvenation, a fresher complexion is first noticeable, followed by a firmer structure. For hair therapy, many patients experience a reduction in hair loss after 4–8 weeks, and a visible increase in density develops over 3–6 months. The full effect develops cumulatively over several sessions.
PRP is an endogenous procedure – allergic reactions are practically impossible. Slight redness, small pressure points, or minor swelling in the treated area, which subsides within 24–48 hours, are possible. There is no actual downtime – you are immediately able to socialize again.
Fillers add volume. Botulinum toxin specifically paralyzes individual muscles. Both temporarily change the skin — but not its biological quality. PRP works differently: It stimulates your body to produce new collagen, elastin, and new cells itself. The result comes from within you — more subtle, more natural, biologically sustainable.
No — and this is important to know. PRP stimulates existing, weakened hair follicles. Where follicles are no longer active (e.g., larger bald spots), PRP cannot grow new hair. For early hair loss, it can postpone or avoid a transplant. For advanced hair loss, transplantation is the more effective method — PRP is then used as a supplement.
The cost depends on the area and the number of sessions. A single session typically starts at a clearly calculable fixed price; for the usual course of 3–4 sessions, we offer transparent package prices. You will receive the exact cost framework after the initial consultation.
PRP is not suitable for active skin diseases or infections in the treatment area, certain blood or coagulation disorders, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or during ongoing anticoagulant therapy. We carefully check all contraindications during the initial consultation.
We work with a certified double-spin process in a closed system. This means: two successive centrifugation steps that not only isolate the plasma but also precisely adjust the platelet concentration. This concentration is a key determinant of biological efficacy—and differentiates medical PRP from simpler procedures.
PRP is, in most cases, a self-pay service — statutory health insurance does not cover the costs. Private health insurance companies reimburse a portion of the treatment costs in individual cases; we will issue a corresponding invoice for submission upon request.
PRP is offered by many providers today - the quality varies considerably. In our practice, every treatment is performed by dermatologists, not by assistants. We combine PRP with medical diagnostics, work with a certified preparation system, and provide honest advice on when PRP is effective - and when another therapy makes more sense.
